Funding for Local Projects
In 2001 elected members through the then Crime and Disorder
Policy Development Group received a budget for projects in support
of the Community Safety Action Plans. The fund, now called the
Economic and Community Regeneration Board is split into two, to
provide a range of groups with the opportunity of securing funding
to deliver Community Safety projects.
The first
fund is for youth related projects and offers up to £500 per
application. Applications can be submitted by community police
officers or anyone involved in community - based organisations.
Projects must encourage young people to take part in community
activities. The main objectives of the fund are to cut local crime,
involve young people in the community and prevent them from getting
into trouble.
The second fund is to support
voluntary organisations, which can apply for up to £1000 per
project. The main focus here is to get practical, local projects up
and running which will help support the Community Safety Action
Plans.
Successful applicants are required to report back on the
progress of project, in order to monitor and evaluate the
allocation of the funding.
